About Dr. York
David York, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who has helped hundreds of individuals and families to successfully find solutions for problems such stress, low self esteem, relationship conflicts and problems, excessive anxiety, depression, mood swings, self-destructive behavior and living with chronic medical conditions. Dr. York treats adults, adolescents and children as young as six years old.
Dr. York graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania State University and earned his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florida. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He began his career as a staff psychologist at Therapeutic Alternatives, in Woodbury, NJ where he provided individual and family psychotherapy, case management, crisis management services and psychological assessment to adolescents with extreme emotional and behavioral problems and their families. Within a year he was promoted to supervising psychologist.
In 1997, he took a position as Staff Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, DE, where he provides psychotherapy and psychological assessment to a wide range of adults, adolescents and children from various ethnic, cultural, religious and socioeconmic backgrounds.
In addition to his work for Christiana Care Health System, Dr. York maintains an independent practice in Oaklyn, New Jersey, in close proximity to Cherry Hill and Haddonfield.
Dr. York is licensed in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. He is a Member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Psychological Assessment. He frequently gives presentations on personality, and psychological assessment at local, regional and national meetings.
Dr. York is an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the Institute of Graduate Clinical Psychology of Widener University. He co-directs a highly regarded and sought-after practicum rotation in Psychological Assessment for doctoral students from graduate psychology programs throughout the Delaware Valley. In April of 2007 he received the Institute’s Outstanding Supervisor Award.
